Apparently when GWB nominates Harriet Miers she's an unqualified political hack without any judicial experience. When Obama nominates Elena Kagan, she's praised for her administrative skill and unique non-judicial background. Why are the two women different? You be the judge.

The real moral outrage in the debate should be how the Democrats slavishly kowtow to the ideology of big government, all the while ignoring real solutions that benefit the health and welfare of the public.

Why can't we have an honest discussion about healthcare? The Obama administration doesn't want it.

I run off for a couple of months to graduate law school and take the Texas Bar Exam, and suddenly the world’s off its rocker. First the Dems push through earnings caps, carbon taxes, universal healthcare, cash for clunkers, and a wise Latina on the Supreme Court.

The previous generation made themselves heard by going into the street and throwing a temper tantrum until the powers that be give in. The current generation make themselves heard by blogging, or tweeting, or snarking on Facebook. Boring? Maybe. Less property damage? Definitely.

The Texas Senate just sent a bill to committee that changes the name of the Texas Railroad Commission to the Texas Energy Commission. That noise you hear is the toilet flushing on 118 years of Texas history, and 60 years of Commissioners trying to explain that they regulate Oil and Gas development.

Texas has gotten an unfair reputation for dishing out draconian justice. While the system's far from perfect, there's a lot to be proud of.

That noise you hear are the screeching tires and squealing brakes of a car wreck happening in slow motion.

That vague noise you hear in the background is me weeping into my Cheerios and gnashing my teeth.

Sure, I could recap the change in the past two weeks (also known as the reinstatement of the liberal agenda) but I will resist. Instead we will talk about something far more important: the future.

Sorry for the month of heavy news, but here's something good for once. Demographer/Sociology Guru Neil Howe predicts that The United States is not in an inevitable decline. In fact, the U.S. may be the last best hope for the civilized world.

For the past 18 months while the housing crisis unfolded there were two seemingly invincible entities: Toyota and Houston's energy-based economy. Fast forward to present and both are looking more vulnerable.

Becker/Posner discuss unions, elections, and the fate of the Detroit-controlled American automobile industry. (Hint: the foreign manufacturers are doing fine!)

A Russian ex-spymaster predicts in 2010 the United States will experience a civil war and dissolve into regions governed by foreign influence. He also predicts that after the crack-up Alaska will revert to Russian control. Right. As if Sarah Palin wouldn’t nuke them first.

First the bankers, then the automakers, now the Donald Trumps of the world? Heck, if anyone needs a bailout it should be the droves of laid-off lawyers and the unemployed members of the law school graduating class of 2009.

In the wake of KBH's declaration that she's finally going to run for Governor, the stagnate political frameworks of state-wide politics have all gone aflutter.

The Governor of Illinois was arrested on allegations that he was selling Obama's senate seat to the highest bidder. I know that state slush funds are low because of the poor economy, but this is ridiculous.

Despite 2008 being one for the books, we have much to be thankful for.
